Best Bars and Restaurants Near West Valley Cactus League Stadiums

ZonaHaps|June 6, 2026

Spring training in the West Valley runs from mid-February through late March, and the four stadiums — Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Surprise Stadium, and Goodyear Ballpark — sit across a stretch of metro Phoenix that has developed a solid food and bar scene to match. Whether you are looking for a pre-game lunch, a post-game cold drink, or a place to land between a morning practice and an afternoon game, here is a working guide to the options near each stadium.

Near Camelback Ranch, Glendale

Camelback Ranch sits in the western part of Glendale, and the most convenient dining and bar district is the Westgate Entertainment District about ten minutes north on Loop 101. Westgate is walkable once you are there, with sports bars, chain restaurants, and a covered outdoor plaza that fills up naturally before and after events. It is designed for exactly this kind of pre-game crowd, and the density of options means you can usually walk in without a reservation on a weekday.

For something with more local character, Old Town Glendale — about eight miles east on Glendale Avenue — has a quieter antique-and-dining strip with independent restaurants, coffee shops, and bars that draw a less chain-heavy crowd. It takes a few more minutes to reach but the feel is different enough to be worth the detour if you have time before a late-afternoon game.

Near Peoria Sports Complex, Peoria

The Peoria Sports Complex sits in a residential suburban corridor, but the dining options within ten minutes have expanded substantially. The Vistancia area north of the complex and the strip along 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road have newer restaurants and sports bars that do the spring-training crowd. Brewpubs have opened in the area in recent years, and the overall quality has improved from the chain-dominant landscape of a decade ago.

For a more scenic option, the area around Lake Pleasant — about fifteen minutes northwest — has waterside restaurants and bars that pair naturally with a half-day at the ballpark. It is a slightly longer drive but a genuinely different atmosphere from the suburban-strip options near the stadium.

Near Surprise Stadium, Surprise

Surprise has developed quickly, and the dining corridor along Bell Road and Litchfield Road has a good mix of sports bars and casual restaurants that catch the post-game crowd naturally. The Surprise Marketplace area just north of the stadium has several options within a five-minute drive. Kansas City and Texas fan bases tend to scatter after games rather than converge on a single spot, which means wait times are more forgiving than at some of the larger draws.

Surprise also has a growing independent food scene for a city its size. A few locally owned Mexican restaurants and craft beer spots have emerged in the Prasada corridor in recent years and are worth tracking down if you want something beyond the standard sports-bar circuit.

Near Goodyear Ballpark, Goodyear

Goodyear's restaurant scene is younger than Glendale's or Peoria's but has filled in well. The Goodyear town center area near Estrella Parkway has a cluster of bars and restaurants within a short drive of the ballpark. Goodyear draws a lower-volume spring-training crowd than Glendale and Peoria, which means post-game waits are shorter and the atmosphere is more relaxed.

The western Phoenix suburban sprawl along I-10 heading back toward the airport has essentially every chain option at high density if that is what you need — convenient for travelers with early departures the next morning.

General tips for eating and drinking around Cactus League games

  • Go early. Pre-game crowds hit restaurants 60 to 90 minutes before first pitch. Arriving 2 hours early means shorter waits and better tables.
  • Post-game is faster than you expect. Spring-training crowds tend to disperse quickly and quietly — post-game waits at nearby restaurants are usually shorter than pre-game.
  • Rideshare from the restaurant. Parking at the stadium is easier if you do not have to drive back to a bar afterward. Use Lyft or Uber for the post-game portion of the night.
  • Check the ZonaHaps calendar. Bars and restaurants in the Valley often run spring-training specials, watch parties, and pop-up events during Cactus League season that do not always show up in a simple search. Browse the Arizona events calendar and the West Valley guide closer to your visit for what is actually running.
