Spring Training

Cactus League Spring Training

The Cactus League is Major League Baseball's Arizona spring-training circuit — 15 of MLB's 30 teams play exhibition games each spring across 10 ballparks in metro Phoenix. The season runs roughly late February through late March, and all 10 stadiums sit within about an hour of each other, so it's easy to catch multiple teams on one trip.

Four of the ten ballparks are right here in the West Valley Peoria (Padres, Mariners), Surprise (Rangers, Royals), Glendale's Camelback Ranch (Dodgers, White Sox), and Goodyear (Guardians, Reds) — four parks and eight teams within a short drive.

Cactus League FAQ

When is Cactus League spring training 2027?

The official 2027 schedule is typically released by MLB in the fall. Based on the usual pattern, expect games from roughly mid-to-late February through late March 2027, with pitchers and catchers reporting in early-to-mid February. (For reference, the 2026 season ran February 20 through March 24.) Check back closer to the season for confirmed 2027 dates.

Which teams play in the West Valley?

Four Cactus League ballparks are in the West Valley: the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners at Peoria Sports Complex; the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals at Surprise Stadium; the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch in Glendale; and the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds at Goodyear Ballpark. The Milwaukee Brewers also train nearby on the west side of Phoenix at American Family Fields.

How do I get Cactus League tickets?

Tickets are sold through each team's website, MLB.com, and the stadium box offices, plus resale marketplaces. Prices use dynamic pricing, so a weekday game is far cheaper than a weekend matchup against a marquee team like the Cubs or Dodgers. Lawn and berm seats are usually the most affordable option, and popular games sell out — so buy early.

What's the weather like at spring training?

Phoenix in late February and March is typically warm and sunny, with comfortable mornings and afternoons that heat up quickly. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and water — especially for lawn seating, which has little shade. Evenings can cool off, so pack a light layer for night games.

How far apart are the ballparks?

All 10 Cactus League ballparks are within about an hour of each other, but metro Phoenix is spread out. The West Valley parks — Peoria, Surprise, Glendale (Camelback Ranch), and Goodyear — are clustered close together, while the East Valley parks (Mesa, Tempe) and Scottsdale are 30+ minutes away. It's best to group same-area ballparks on the same day; public transit isn't practical for getting between them.
