Paradise Valley

The Valley's luxury enclave — landmark resorts, world-class spas, and fine dining beneath Camelback and Mummy Mountains.

About Paradise Valley

Paradise Valley is an affluent town wedged between Phoenix and Scottsdale, known above all as the Valley's premier luxury address. It is almost entirely residential and resort land, with sprawling estates set on large desert lots beneath the dramatic profiles of Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain. There is no traditional downtown or commercial strip; the town zealously protects its low-density, upscale character. The mountain backdrops and the quiet, exclusive feel are central to its identity.

The town is home to a cluster of landmark luxury resorts that have drawn visitors for generations, several built into the desert foothills with sweeping mountain and city views. These resorts and their spas are among the best known in the Southwest, and they anchor a hospitality scene built around relaxation, golf, and indulgence. Many of the area's finest restaurants sit inside or beside these resorts, making Paradise Valley a destination for special-occasion dining. The resort culture is essentially the town's public life.

Outdoors, Camelback Mountain is the marquee attraction, with its famous and demanding summit trails offering some of the best views in the metro, while nearby preserves add gentler options. The hiking, the spas, and the high-end dining together define a slow, luxurious pace very different from the bustle of neighboring cities. Visitors generally come to stay at a resort, hike Camelback, and dine well rather than to chase nightlife or attractions. The emphasis is firmly on quality over quantity.

Summers are hot, with triple-digit highs from June into September, and resort rates dip while spa-and-pool culture takes over. The cooler months from October through April are the peak season, when hiking Camelback is comfortable and the resort patios shine. A classic day here might mean a sunrise summit of Camelback Mountain, a midday spa treatment, and an evening at one of the resort restaurants. Luxury and the mountains are the whole point.
